The Roxborough Water and Sanitation District (District) provides high quality surface (renewable) water to customers within its boundaries as well as sewer collection and removal services. Currently, the District’s customer base includes 3,400 residential and business accounts. The total build-out of the District’s service area is planned for 3,800 units.
The Roxborough community gets its water straight from the Rocky Mountain’s lakes, rivers, and snow runoff. Through a long-time relationship with the City of Aurora who owns the water rights to the Community’s water, the District negotiated a permanent raw water supply agreement with Aurora which allows RWSD to take its portion out first as it enters Roxborough. The rest of the raw water the City of Aurora owns then travels out to Aurora via a pipeline. Roxborough’s water system includes miles of water distribution pipeline, several water storage tanks, and a water treatment plant.

The District also provides the community’s sewer treatment, which is part of a regionalized agreement the Littleton/ Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant (LEWTP). The District maintains and owns miles of sewer pipeline to remove and deliver sewage to the LEWTP. The District is considered to be a connector district as it sits outside the service area of the LEWTP which is Colorado’s third largest, publicly owned, water treatment plant.
